Lauren Hammond, President & CEO

After having worked several years as an actress and model, both in print and TV, Lauren ventured into the corporate world. She freelanced as a writer, publicist, speaker and consultant before opening her own public relations firm, The Creative Network. Handling a diverse clientele, Lauren managed all their PR, promotional and advertising needs.

In the late 1990s she and Jay Johnstone were contacted by a former teammate of Jay's from Reno, NV about providing some auction items for a school fundraiser. After helping the school raise over $20,000, Lauren and Jay decided to turn that favor into a part-time business called Sporthings. Eventually, Sporthings, which exclusively sold sports items, became Sporthings & More, a full-time partnership specializing in not only sports, but entertainment, music, presidential pieces, artwork and much more. Lauren closed her PR firm so she could devote her time exclusively to building Sporthings & More's presence in the community.

Jay Johnstone

 

A former Major Leaguer, Jay's career spanned 20 years with eight different teams. He won the 1966 American League Rookie of the Year with the California Angels. He played on eight divisional champions and earned four World Series rings. Known as a prankster on and off the field, Jay wrote about his escapades in three hilarious books, two of which became bestsellers. He hosted the "Lighter Side of Sports" and "Baseball's Funniest Pranks" and was a radio broadcaster for the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.

Jay has also narrated several videos, including the award-winning "The Hitter's Commandments." Every January on Martin Luther King Day, he hosts the Annual Jay Johnstone Charity/Celebrity Golf Tournament which raises money for local children's charities. He travels the country as a speaker at both corporate and social events and participates in baseball clinics, fantasy camps and charity golf tournaments. He currently works for FOX as a TV broadcaster and is the Team Relations Director for the newly formed Continental Baseball League.
